Your Complete Guide to Steam Ahead.

About Best Steamers & Our Products

What is Best Steamers?

Best Steamers is your destination for premium garment steamers that transform how you care for your clothes. We partner with Jiffy—the American steamer brand trusted since 1940—to bring professional-grade steaming technology to everyone from busy professionals to dry cleaners and boutiques. We believe your clothes deserve as much attitude as you do, so we make steaming accessible, effective, and honestly, pretty satisfying.

Why choose a steamer over an iron?

Great question. Steamers win on three fronts: they're safer for delicate fabrics (no direct heat damage), faster for most garments (especially large items like curtains and coats), and better for your back (no bending or pushing). Think of ironing as a precision tool for crisp creases on cotton dress shirts; think of steaming as the everyday hero that handles everything else.

Are Jiffy steamers made in the USA?

Yes. All Jiffy steamers sold through Best Steamers are manufactured, assembled, and sourced in the United States. Jiffy has been making steamers domestically in the US since 1940, and we're proud to support that legacy.

How long do Jiffy steamers last?

With proper care, your Jiffy steamer should deliver years of reliable performance. Most models are built with commercial-grade components (brass fittings, stainless steel boilers) designed for daily use. Your Three-Year Jiffy Limited Warranty plus the Store's One-Year Warranty cover manufacturing defects, and routine maintenance—descaling and filter changes—keeps your steamer running like new.

What fabrics can I steam?

Steamers are safe for almost everything except very delicate silks (test first), suede, and faux leather. They excel on cotton, linen, wool, polyester blends, chiffon, silk, and most synthetics. Pro tip: Always check your garment's care label first, and when in doubt, test on an inconspicuous area.

Can I use my steamer on things other than clothes?

Absolutely. Your steamer works beautifully on curtains, tablecloths, upholstered furniture, bedding, and even some stuffed animals. Avoid using it on leather, suede, or anything with heat-sensitive finishes (like certain plastics or delicate beading).

Do I need distilled water or can I use tap water?

Tap water is fine for most of our steamers, but distilled water extends the life of your machine by preventing mineral buildup inside the boiler. Hard water areas (high mineral content) especially benefit from distilled water. If using tap water, descale every 3–4 months. If using distilled, descale every 6 months.

How often should I descale my steamer?

If using tap water: every 3–4 months, or whenever you notice reduced steam output or white mineral deposits on the water outlet. If using distilled water: every 6 months. Each model's manual includes specific descaling instructions (usually a simple mixture of water and white vinegar).

Do you offer international shipping?

We primarily serve the UAE. For shipping inquiries in GCC region or outside this area, please contact us—we may be able to help.

Do you offer volume pricing for businesses?

Yes. If you're outfitting a dry cleaning business, boutique, tailor shop, or hospitality venue, we offer volume pricing. Request a quote and let's talk about your needs.

Is there a warranty?

All Jiffy steamers come with a Three-Year Jiffy Limited Warranty plus a One-Year Store Warranty covering manufacturing defects. This does not cover normal wear, misuse, or damage from descaling products not recommended in your manual. Warranty details are included with your steamer.

Comparison & Choosing the Right Steamer

Which Jiffy steamer is right for me?

Jiffy Esteam Travel Steamer — Your portable companion. Perfect for:

  • Frequent travelers who want wrinkle-free clothes on the go
  • Small dorm rooms or apartments with limited space
  • Quick touch-ups before heading out
  • Anyone who values portability over continuous steam time

Real talk: This steamer is genuinely useful for travel, but steam output and duration are modest compared to home models. Expect 20–30 minutes of continuous steam. Great for 2–3 garments or touch-ups; not ideal for steaming a full wardrobe.

Jiffy J-2 Clothing Steamer — The home essential. Perfect for:

  • Households that steam a few items regularly
  • Apartments and small homes (compact footprint)
  • Personal care and everyday wrinkles
  • Budget-conscious buyers who want professional results without premium pricing

Real talk: This is a solid mid-size steamer built for personal use. Steam output is strong, and the hose gives you maneuverability. If you're steaming 5–10 items per session or need something compact, this is your workhorse.

Jiffy J-2000 Clothing Steamer — The upgrade. Perfect for:

  • Larger households or anyone who steams frequently
  • People who appreciate better build quality and reliability
  • Those who want longer continuous steam time without refilling
  • Anyone who steams mixed fabrics (thick coats to delicate blouses)

Real talk: This is where you start noticing the difference. Better boiler, longer steam time (1 hour 45 minutes), and components built for heavier use. If you steam regularly, this is the sweet spot.

Jiffy J-4000 Pro-Line Clothing Steamer — Professional power. Perfect for:

  • Dry cleaners, tailor shops, boutiques, and hotels
  • People who steam daily or operate commercially
  • High-volume garment care (dozens of items per day)
  • Those who demand the absolute best build quality and durability

Real talk: This is the professional standard. Commercial-grade boiler, choice of stainless steel or plastic steam head, longest continuous steam time, and components rated for daily heavy use. If your livelihood depends on your steamer, this is the investment.

How do the models compare in speed?
  • Travel Steamer: Ready in 30–45 seconds (once warmed up)
  • J-2: Ready in 45–60 seconds
  • J-2000: Ready in about 1 minute
  • J-4000: Ready in 2 minutes (industrial strength means more robust warm-up)

All are considerably faster than irons if you account for heating, setup, and actually pressing each garment.

Which steamer has the longest steam time?

The J-4000 Pro-Line generates 1 hour 45 minutes of continuous steam, followed by the J-2000 (also 1 hour 45 minutes). The J-2 generates approximately 1 hour, and the Travel Steamer around 20–30 minutes.

What's the difference between Stainless Steel and Plastic steam heads on the J-4000?
  • Stainless Steel Face Plate (6"): Built for daily commercial volume. Heavier, more durable, and better for rapid repetitive steaming. Glides smoothly but is slightly noisier.
  • Standard Plastic Steam Head with Hose (6"): Lighter and quieter glide, perfect for home use or lighter commercial use. Still durable; just less robust for all-day heavy use.

Choose Stainless Steel if you're a professional operator; choose Plastic if you're a household or light commercial user.

Using Your Steamer

Is it safe to steam while wearing the garment?

No. Never steam while wearing clothing. The steam is very hot (212°F / 100°C) and can cause burns. Always hang or lay garments flat and steam them separately.

Should I hang my clothes or lay them flat while steaming?

Both work, but hanging is easier and more practical. Hang your garment on a sturdy hanger or rod, keep the steam head a few inches away, and move top to bottom in smooth strokes. For flat items like curtains or tablecloths, lay them flat and steam methodically.

How close should the steam head be to the fabric?

Keep the head 2–4 inches away from the fabric. This distance lets steam penetrate without direct contact that could waterlog or damage delicate fabrics. Experiment; you'll quickly find what works best for each garment.

Do I need to "glide" the steamer or just hold it in place?

Gliding (smooth downward or sideways strokes) is most effective for releasing wrinkles. Holding it stationary works for stubborn creases but is slower. A combination of both—glide and pause on problem areas—gives best results.

Can I steam the same garment twice?

Yes, if needed. If wrinkles remain after one pass, steam again. Most garments need only one pass, but heavier fabrics (wool coats, linen dresses) may benefit from a second round.

How long does it take to steam one shirt?

Most people steam a shirt in 1–2 minutes once the steamer is heated up. Start with the collar, work down the front, do the back, then sleeves. Speed comes with practice.

What if my steamer isn't producing steam?

Check these first: Is it plugged in and switched on? Is the water tank full? Is it heated up (this takes 1–2 minutes depending on the model)? If it's been running for a while, mineral deposits might block the outlet—descale following your manual's instructions.

Why is my steam output weak?

Mineral buildup is the most common culprit. Descale your steamer (mix equal parts white vinegar and water, pour into the tank, and run through the hose into a sink for 30–60 seconds). If descaling doesn't help, there may be a blockage or internal issue—contact us or consult your manual.

Is the water that drips from the steam head normal?

A little condensation is normal, especially at the start of a steaming session. If significant amounts of water—not just steam—are coming out, your steamer may not be fully heated yet, or the internal pressure may be off. Let it heat longer, or refer to your manual.

Can I add fragrance, fabric softener, or essential oils to the water tank?

No. Only use water (tap or distilled). Additives damage the boiler, void your warranty, and create chemical residues that can harm fabrics. Your steamer is designed to work with water alone.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

How do I descale my steamer?

Mix equal parts white vinegar and water. Fill your steamer's tank with this mixture (or use a specialized steamer descaling solution if you prefer). Turn on the steamer and let the mixture run through the hose into a sink until the tank is empty. Refill with fresh water and run pure water through the hose to rinse out any vinegar residue. Now you're ready to steam.

How often should I replace the filter?

This depends on your model and water quality. Most Jiffy steamers have replaceable filters. Check your manual—if there's a filter, replace it every 6–12 months or when you notice reduced steam output. Hard water areas may need more frequent replacements.

Why is my steamer leaking?

Leaks usually stem from loose connections at the hose or tank, overfilling the water tank, or a damaged seal inside. Check that all hose connections are tight (hand-tighten only, don't force). Ensure you're not overfilling beyond the water line. If leaks persist, the internal seals may need attention—consult your manual or contact us.

Can I use my steamer right after filling it?

No. Allow 1–2 minutes (depending on model) for the water to heat and pressure to build. Your manual specifies the exact heat-up time. Trying to use it before it's ready won't produce steam and may be unsafe.

My steamer keeps shutting off during use. Why?

Most steamers have a safety auto-shutoff that activates if the water runs too low or if the internal temperature gets too high. Check that the water tank has adequate water, let the steamer cool slightly, and try again. If this keeps happening, something may be wrong internally—refer to your manual or contact us.

Can I store my steamer with water still in the tank?

No. Always empty the tank and any water in the hose before storing. Stale water can breed bacteria and minerals can harden inside the tank. Empty, let dry, and store in a cool, dry place.

My steamer was stored for months. Will it still work?

Likely yes, but there might be mineral deposits. Before using it again, descale (see above) and run pure water through the system. Refill and test on a scrap fabric first. If steam output is weak after descaling, there may be significant buildup—a second descaling cycle usually clears it.

Pro Tips & Best Practices

Pro tip: Preheating matters.

Never skip the heat-up time. A fully heated steamer produces better, more consistent steam and releases wrinkles faster.

Pro tip: Thicker fabrics need more passes.

Wool coats, linen dresses, and heavy cotton benefit from multiple light passes rather than aggressive single steaming. Patience pays off.

Pro tip: Steam collars and cuffs first.

These areas wrinkle easily and benefit from direct attention. Get them right, and the rest of the garment feels polished.

Pro tip: Test delicate fabrics first.

Before steaming a garment you love, test on a hidden seam or the inside of a sleeve. It takes 30 seconds and prevents disasters.

Pro tip: Keep your steamer on a stable surface.

Always place it on a flat, stable table or stand, never on a bed or unstable surface. The weight and heat require a solid foundation.

Pro tip: Never leave your steamer running unattended.

Treat it like you would any electrical appliance with heat and pressurized water. Turn it off when you step away.

Pro tip: Descale even if you're using distilled water.

Distilled water helps, but some mineral buildup is inevitable. Regular descaling (every 6 months even with distilled water) keeps your steamer performing optimally.
